--- Appearance, Specification and Compatibility

Appearance

With dimensions of 142(h) x 124(w) x 90(d) mm - and weight of 764g - the 9700 is roughly 20 per cent bigger than its forerunner.

The expansion is the result of, or is intended to allow, the use of a bigger fan in the centre of the cooler – 110mm, rather than the 9500's 92mm.

As before, though, the fan is lit by a blue LED.

Zalman continues with the same design seen on the 9500 - a figure-of-eight configuration that turns three heat-pipes into a virtual six.

Rather than using copper for the top of the CPU block, the 9700 uses aluminium. This has a circular mount for securing it to the motherboard, as well as providing the necessary mount for the fan.

With a claimed surface area of 5490sq cm, the fins on the cleverly designed Zalman promise exceptional heat dissipation.
