A new next-gen game from Blizzard has been hinted at in a conversation that Gamespot had with Blizzard chief operating officer, Paul Sams. He told the website , “We have multiple games in development currently. World of Warcraft and the Warcraft franchise is not the last and only franchise we are going to operate within. The Diablo and Starcraft franchises are of the utmost importance to us as well.”
They were also told that "‘multiple games’ were in development for ‘multiple formats’, stating that both PS3 and Xbox 360 were being assessed for their suitability."
In the past year Blizzard have advertised full time position for next gen programming positions so the news is not really a big surprise. It would be more interesting to discover which game they have up their sleeves. Could it be Diablo which, according to many rumours will be an MMO as huge as World of Warcraft, with the concept of Hell invading Heaven.
Starcraft : Ghost was 'accidently listed' on the Blizzard website as an Xbox 360 game last year and then it was promptly removed after speculation started to grow. Blizzard confirmed in March that plans for Starcraft Ghost had been put on hold, but are they back?
The World of Warcraft series on console has been debated feverishly for some time but although Blizzard are aware of the interest they have already stated that they are "not going down that road at this time." But has 'that time' changed? and is 'that time' now?
