You wouldn't expect to pick up a decent-sized all-in-one PC for under $400, but Lenovo has this week made it possible with the introduction of its C100.
The "from $399" system, pictured below, features an 18.5in widescreen display, and either a single-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 processor, or a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom 330.
There's a DVD burner and four USB ports, but as part of Lenovo's budget C series range, don't expect any frills. You'll find "standard graphics", no card reader, no FireWire port and only Microsoft's ageing Windows XP operating system. Lenovo's reluctance to mention the 18.5in display's resolution is worrying, and no, there's no support for touch functionality.
Then again, it is retailing at $399, which Lenovo reckons makes it "ideal for home, dorm room or studio". No word on UK availability or pricing yet.
