Taipei, December, 23, 2003- Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading supplier of core logic chipsets, and PCTEL corporation today announced a joint partnership to offer complete wireless solutions using the SiS162 wireless LAN chipset and Segue™ Soft Access Module (SAM) software. The solution is based on the IEEE 802.11x wireless standard and will be intended for mobile users. The SiS-PCTEL solution will simplify wireless access for end-users, providing a Windows-based software access point for WLAN cards.

The SiS162 is a single-chip wireless LAN Medium Access Controller (MAC) and Baseband processor (BBP), which fully provides the features and functionality needed for the MAC protocol of the IEEE 802.11b standard. The SiS162 applies the innovative MAC and Baseband core engine architecture and is designed to provide good performance with lower power consumption and enhances the advantages of robust system and cost-performance effectively.
