Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has revealed a nice little incentive for gamers intending to pick up a PlayStation Vita on launch day.

From 22nd February, MotorStorm RC, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, WipEout HD and HD Fury DLC for WipEout 2048, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC, can be purchased on the PlayStation Store and can be played on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) for one price.

If you already own the title on PS3, you can download the same content to PS Vita for free, and vice versa. Each of the games also supports cross-platform play, which allows users to compete with players regardless of which system they are playing on.

With the smartphone and tablet market booming in recent years and ushering in a new crowd of casual gamers, it seems like an odd time to release a dedicated handheld gaming device for the hardcore. Nevertheless, PS Vita does boast some impressive specifications and a very strong launch line-up of games.

We’ll have a review of Sony’s new handheld early next week.

If they extend this to Sony's phones/tablets then they've got the basis of a good idea - certainly be a USP for the phones/tablets (other than the looks of course).
Is this just a day one promotion? Or something that will become standard?
There has to be a catch somewhere….
I suppose it means they can sell PSVita games at the same price as full PS3 games…
