HP updates Pavilion PC portfolio

HP has updated its Pavilion PC range from top to bottom. The new PCs encompass laptops, convertibles, desktops and All-in-Ones. These updated machines bring improvements such as "amped-up power, battery life and capabilities found in premium lines at an affordable price." Furthermore, there are lots of colours to choose from, making the refreshed designs even more appealing to the fashion and colour conscious.

2016 Pavilion Laptops

The latest Pavilion laptops are 11-22 percent thinner and lighter than their 14- and 15.6-inch predecessors. HP has sought to provide plenty of colour options such as Natural Silver, Modern Gold, Blizzard White, Onyx Black, Cardinal Red, Dragonfly Blue and Sport Purple with threaded design patterns on the keyboard and speakers. There's lots of configuration options for processors, optinal GPUs, memory, storage and screens so you can buy a 2016 Pavilion to suit your purpose.

  • Up to 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor options
  • Optional Nvidia GeForce 940MX, GeForce GTX 950M or GeForce GTX 960M graphics
  • 7th generation AMD A12-9700P Quad-Core processor with optional Radeon R7 Graphics on select models
  • Up to 16GB of memory and up to 512GB SSD or up to 2TB for single storage options or dual storage options with up to 2TB HDD and 128GB SSD on select models.
  • Optical disk drive for select Pavilion models.
  • Edge to edge HD or FHD IPS displays with optional touch for a more interactive experience on the PC depending on model.

2016 HP Pavilion x360s

HP has added a new 15.6-inch model to the 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch HP Pavilion x360s. Furthermore the updated versions are between 12 to 14 per cent thinner and lighter than the last generation. All the new devices feature B&O PLAY audio and a new pearl coloured digital thread pattern on the keyboard deck. An expanded range of colours complement the 2016 HP Pavilion x360s with purchasers able to choose from Natural Silver, Modern Gold, Dragonfly Blue, Cardinal Red and Sport Purple.

HP Pavilion x360s tech specs include:

  • Up to nine hours and 15 minutes of battery life depending on model.
  • HD or option for Full HD IPS displays on the 13.3" and 15.6" diagonal models.
  • Up to 16GB of memory and up to 512GB SSD with the option for hard drive storage up to 1TB, depending on model.
  • Choice of the latest Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium or up to 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processors subject to model.
  • A full-size keyboard now offering optional backlit keyboard on 13.3" and 15.6" diagonal versions and 1.5mm key travel for a comfortable typing experience.

2016 HP Pavilion AiOs

The latest HP Pavilion AiOs feature edge-to-edge displays in either 23.8- or 27-inch diagonal sizes. There are also select models with micro edge displays. The screens are all IPS models and available in either full HD or Quad HD configurations. Touch is another option, but all the AiOs feature twin B&O PLAY speakers in the front screen base bezel.

Other key specs include:

  • Intel Pentium or up to 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor options with optional Nvidia GT 930A graphics or 7th generation AMD up A10 processor options.
  • 1TB with options up to 3TB for storing photos, files, games and movies. Customers can also choose a hybrid drive options with up to 1TB SSHD.
  • Memory up to 16GB.
  • Optional Intel RealSense Camera on select models for enhanced security through face authentication with Windows Hello. It also enables gesture control apps to provide new ways to interact with the PC.

2016 HP Pavilion Desktop

HP's Pavilion desktops feature smaller footprints, and again a splash of colour, as well as updated internals. Colours available are Natural Silver, Blizzard White and Twinkle Black which are designed to fit in with other electronics in your home/office. The desktops are fully configurable with the following options:

  • Intel Celeron up to 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor options with optional Nvidia GT 730 to GTX 750i graphics or 7th generation AMD up A12 processor with Radeon R7 Graphics options.
  • Up to 16GB of memory and up to 3TB of storage. Optical disk drive for media.
  • For multitasking, the HP Pavilion Desktop supports up to two displays and supports all the ports customers need for peripherals.

There's a new monitor from HP which you could partner with the desktop. The Pavilion 32-inch Quad HD display with wide-viewing angles and 100 percent sRGB colour space can be connected up for a complete system. The monitor sports dual HDMI, DisplayPort and a USB hub.

Pricing and availability of the 2016 HP Pavilion range are as listed below

  • The 11.6" diagonal HP Pavilion x360 is planned to be available on HP.com on May 15 with a starting price at $379.99 and BestBuy.com on May 15 with a starting price at $399.99.
  • The 13.3" diagonal HP Pavilion x360 is planned to be available on HP.com on May 29 with a starting price at $479.99 and BestBuy.com on May 29 with a starting price at $499.99.
  • The 15.6" diagonal HP Pavilion x360 is planned to be available on HP.com on May 25 with a starting price at $579.99 and select retailers on July 6 with a starting price at $729.99.
  • The 14" diagonal HP Pavilion is planned to be available at select retailers on June 12 with a starting price at $539.99.
  • The 15.6" diagonal HP Pavilion is planned to be available on May 18 on HP.com with a starting price at $579.99 and select retailers with a starting price at $599.99.
  • The 17.3" diagonal HP Power Pavilion is planned to be available on HP.com on May 18 with a starting price at $899.99 and select retailers on May 18 with a starting price at $1,099.99.
  • The 23.8" diagonal HP Pavilion All-in-One is planned to be available on HP.com and select retailers on July 10 with a starting price at $699.99.
  • The 27" diagonal HP Pavilion All-in-One is planned to be available on HP.com and select retailers on July 3 with a starting price at $999.99.
  • The HP Pavilion Desktop is planned to be available on HP.com on June 29 and select retailers on June 26 with a starting price at $449.99.
  • The 32" diagonal HP Pavilion Display is planned to be available on HP.com and select retailers on June 26 with a starting price at $399.99.

I'm hoping there will be news soon on the Spectre X360 with an OLED screen. 13" model shown at CES, but I wonder if it will actually see commercialisation.
They should update their screen hinge design, there is a serious issue with HP-650 of the current generation.
Ah the HP Pavilions… I remember mine, it melt like an icecream a week after the end of warranty…

They had this stupid design flaw that it literary let the connections of the GPU melt. But the best side of this? Their solution was to pay like 400 euro to replace the motherboard with another one with the same faulty design. Which will end up dead again.

It could server them better if they had recalled this line of faulty designs.
Good to see AMD getting some chips into OEM products - I guess these are some of the very first Bristol Ridge powered machines.
