Oak? That's so yesterday. Bamboo is the way to go!

'ASUS Bamboo concept series stands for our continuous commitment to bring cutting edge products that are sensational in all senses and forms. In the nature, Bamboo carries a touch of spiritual warmth with its unique tactile surface and its refreshing fragrance. In the Chinese culture, this unique character symbolises a serene wisdom that takes the soul through a journey of aesthetic realms. It's this poetic quality of bamboo that the ASUS designers strived to convey in our product designs.'

That's the official blurb and you're probably thinking what I was thinking - what a load of codswallop.

Well, hold your horses, I was as sceptical as the next fella, until I saw this Bamboo concept in the flesh.

It's a beauty isn't it? And believe you me, it feels smooth as silk and actually does smell good! I don't know if I'd go as far as to say it took my soul through a journey of aesthetic realms but the Dell Inspiron that I'm typing on now does seem incredibly dull in comparison.

And the stand has a whole host of Bamboo-goodness to feast your eyes on.

I rather like the look of that desktop case! I want one.
I thought this was going to be touchy-feely nonsense, but the fist pic of the bamboo LT looked good (didn't look very good with the dark frame on the secound LT pic.)
They really are a treat in terms of aesthetics. I'd certainly go as far as to say that these were the best looking laptops I've ever seen.

If you pulled one of these out of your bag, anywhere, people would take notice and you'd get some oooh's and aaah's. I used to think the Macbook was the prettiest of them all, but that's been bamboozled too. :)
These are really pretty….specially the display panel cover….
