The XPC SD31P leverages advanced dual core, 64-bit processor technology in Shuttle’s famed SFF foot-print

(Taipei, Taiwan — June 21, 2005) Shuttle Inc - the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of small form factor (SFF) PCs and accessories - introduces the XPC SD31P, the first SFF to support Intel® dual core and 64-bit processors. Incorporating a full spectrum of cutting-edge technology including Intel’s new 945G Express chipset, the XPC SD31P delivers advanced features to help businesses lower costs and increase productivity in an ergonomic enclosure one-third the size of a regular desktop computer.

“When combined with Intel Pentium D or 64-bit enabled Pentium 4 processors, the XPC SD31P will enable gamers, power users and multimedia content creators reach new levels of multitasking and work-flow efficiency,” said CEO Shuttle Inc, CK Hung.

This new generation XPC builds upon Shuttle’s experience as the leading manufacturer in the high-end market. Many internal components have been revised to improve upon the award-winning design of previous models. To begin with, the XPC SD31P features the all new Intel® 945G chipset assuring support for current and future Intel processor features including dual core and EM64T. In addition, this platform also adds faster FSB and memory channels, and increases storage performance with SATA 3Gb/s. Integrated with this chipset is Intel’s tweaked Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (GMA 950) for improved 2D and 3D DirectX™ 9 support and speed increases in games and 3D applications.

On the audio front Shuttle have partnered with industry veterans Creative Labs to deliver a new onboard audio solution, the Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit. “For a long time Creative Labs’ products have been synonymous with high-end PC audio. It is with great pleasure that Shuttle Inc now offers this level of performance as standard,” enthused CK Hung.

Another first for the XPC SD31P is the inclusion of an external SATA hot-plug port. Now, users will be able to harness the performance benefits of SATA for their portable devices. What’s more this feature also marks the first time that an XPC is able to connect to 4 hard drives at once without sacrificing space for an optical drive. The performance and security benefits of true RAID 0+1 are now available in the XPC at no extra cost.

Noise levels and cooling have also been improved with the XPC SD31P. Shuttle’s trademark ICE cooling system has been fitted with a larger 92mm fan for more efficient operation, and rubber dampers have been added to the toolless drive cage to reduce vibrations from third-party components.

The XPC SD31P is about to begin shipping around the globe ensuring there will be an XPC platform available to customers upgrading to Pentium D processors. Depending on local markets, end-users can expect to see the XPC SD31P in their favorite retail stores in as little as two weeks.
