PRESS RELEASE

The new STOR.E ALU TV KIT with universal mounting feature allows for quick and easy programme storage

1st October 2013, Neuss - Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG), Storage Peripheral Division, is today announcing the launch of its 1TB STOR.E ALU TV KIT[1] adding to its extensive hard disk drive (HDD) range.  The STOR.E ALU TV KIT has been specifically developed by Toshiba to not only boost TV recording space with its 1TB[2] storage capacity, but also make recording and storing simple with its plug and play technology.

Non-linear viewing has increased considerably over the past few years[3]. 51 per cent of UK households now own a TV recorder[4] and 31 per cent of Italians[5] and 32 per cent of Germans regularly watched time shifted TV programmes in 2012[6]. With our increasingly busy lifestyles, TV viewing no longer revolves around scheduled programming. Viewers want to watch what they want, when they want and the demand for extra storage to record and save these time-shifted programmes is rapidly growing.

The STOR.E ALU TV KIT provides the capacity needed for our ever expanding digital libraries. Its 1 terabyte storage capacity is now capable of storing up to 820 movies, meaning consumers will have the vital extra storage capacity needed to record their favourite TV shows and movies.[7]

In addition to this, the universal TV Kit, which fits most TV, allows the HDD to be easily mounted to the back of a TV, stand or wall mounted TV to keep the TV set up neat and cables out of the way. The HDD is preformatted with the FAT 32 file system, assuring compatibility with virtually all TV sets equipped with a USB recording function.

Arnaud Bonvarlet, General Manager Europe, Storage Peripheral Division, Toshiba Europe GmbH said: "As consumers are constantly trying to balance demands from their work, social and personal lives, getting home to relax and watch the latest episode of their favourite TV show can be difficult to achieve. Toshiba has used its extensive expertise to create storage products that meet the demands of this digital generation and the STOR.E TV ALU TV KIT has been developed so users can quickly and easily store all their favourite programmes. Its 1TB capacity will accommodate even the biggest media hoarder and viewers never have to worry about missing their favourite TV shows."

The 2.5 inch hard drive measures 120.3(L) x 77(W) x 14.5(H)mm and its robust aluminium casing is innovatively designed to be mounted elegantly behind most TV screens, keeping all cables out of sight. In addition to this, with dramatic black casing, the hard drive fits in perfectly with current living room entertainment and Hi-Fi set ups. The one metre cable also allows for any set up requirements.

The new 1TB STOR.E ALU TV KIT will be available for purchase from 15th October 2013 and its recommended retail price (RRP) is 99 €.[8]
