Taipei, Taiwan, March 2009 - QNAP Security today unveils the new firmware which supports the stunning embedded central management software (CMS) and all-in-one camera support for the VioStor-5020 and new VioStor-5012 NVR. By adopting the unique and innovative technology to embed the CMS inside the flash of the NVR system, one NVR can cascade to other NVR systems to support up to 120 IP cameras. Since the CMS is embedded inside the flash memory of the system, there is no need for the users to install the CMS on the client PC. With this structure, QNAP NVR users can centrally monitor hundreds of IP camera channels no matter where they are as long as they can log on to the Internet. Such embedded system is, in the mean time, the most recognized and reliable surveillance deployment and a breakthrough which has never seen in the surveillance industry. The new firmware also supports almost 300 camera models of 21 popular network camera brands, including AXIS, ACTi, Arecont, Canon, D-Link, EDIMAX, ELMO, EtroVision, GANZ, iPUX, IQeye, LevelOne, MOBOTIX, Panasonic BB/ BL/ i-Pro, SANYO, SONY, TOSHIBA, TRENDnet, VIVOTEK, and Y-CAM.

"The new VioStor firmware we provide is a significant breakthrough in the network surveillance industry. By the simple web-based system update, the VioStor NVR is immediately armed with the innovative embedded CMS feature. No extra software is ever required," says Jacky Cheng, Senior Product Manager from QNAP Security. "Moreover, by setting up six 20-channel VioStor-5020 NVR servers as a massive surveillance system, our users can have a whooping 60TB mass storage for recording the videos from 120 network cameras. This is amazing feature that no other Linux-based or PC-based network surveillance solutions can compare in the current market."

QNAP Security also launched the new 5-bay member VioStor-5012 NVR. Powered by Intel 1.6 GHz CPU and 1GB DDRII memory, the VioStor-5012 is an affordable network surveillance system providing 12-channel M-JPEG/ MPEG-4/ megapixel recording and industry-class features such as two Giga LAN ports and advanced RAID configurations. The NVR houses five SATA hard drives accommodating up to 10TB storage capacity for long-term recording. The VioStor-5012 NVR supports secure data protection by RAID 0/ 1/ 5/ 5 + spare/ 6/ 6 + spare/ JBOD configurations, Online RAID Capacity Expansion, Online RAID Level Migration, two Gigabit LAN ports with network failover, load-balancing, or standalone configurations for efficient data transfer over the network. The system can be set up in six simple steps. All the configurations can be managed easily by the web-based GUI using the IE browser. The VioStor-5012 adopted a power-saving Intel CPU which saves more than half of the power consumption comparing to traditional PC-based surveillance solutions. It is an environment-friendly, yet powerful NVR solution for business.
