PRESS RELEASE

Turn a home electricity network into a fast broadband infrastructure for less than £125

With the explosion in HDR the new Ultra HD Premium label, and streaming devices such as apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast, on-demand TV is an essential part of everyday life.

But many buyers, confused or frustrated by poor screen resolution, buffering, slow download and data speeds, might not realise that their wireless performance is letting them down.

The problem is twofold: poor in-home Wi-Fi results in so-called ‘Wi-Fi deadzones’, plus smart TVs and older tablets and smartphones which cannot connect to the faster, wider 5GHz Wi-Fi channel¹. The AC 5GHz band is up to x 3 faster therefore enabling entertainment-focused households to instantly stream applications such as Netflix, iPlayer, or to play YouTube clips on tablets or smartphones.

To combat poor performance, TP-LINK, the world's leading networking solutions brand,² has unveiled its latest powerline adapter – the AV1200 Three Port Gigabit Passthrough Powerline AC Wi-Fi KIT.

This plug and play device safely uses a home’s electricity network to deliver faster, more stable wired and wireless connections, to optimise smart TV viewing and improve home-entertainment enjoyment. The customer will need to have faster internet connection in order to take real advantage of the new powerline speeds.

The powerline kit together provides powerful dual band AC1200 Wi-Fi and a stable wired internet connection via any electrical socket.

It’s 2 x 2 MIMO technology means faster, stronger and more stable connections, ideal for 4K streaming, online gaming, large file transfers, and other bandwidth-intensive activities on multiple devices simultaneously. It also comes with tpPLC Utility software, which enables users to view and manage their powerline devices in the network via a web management screen.

Two powerline adapters are required to create a powerline network. One must connect directly to your router and the second and subsequent adapters can be placed anywhere within the same electrical circuit to deliver uncompromised connectivity. A powerline network is particularly suited to homes with multiple connected devices and an appetite for streaming and online gaming especially period properties with thick walls, multiple floors or converted basements which block the Wi-Fi signal from the router.

Nelson Qiao, Country Manager, TP-LINK UK: “A WPA8630P powerline kit will improve gamers’, binge streamers’ or audiophiles’ connected-device experience, whether it’s watching, listening, interacting or downloading content. Given the high cost of new smart TVs, a TP-LINK powerline is a simple, cost-effective solution for extending the existing network – plug it in and instantly experience the difference in picture quality, streaming and data speed.”

A TP-LINK powerline does not require specialist tech knowledge to install and connects in minutes.

The powerline is available online from 17th June with an RRP of £124.99.

Key features:

  • AC1200 Wi-Fi, plus AV1200 Powerline, providing powerful dual band Wi-Fi plus a wired connection anywhere around the home
