PRESS RELEASE

Taipei, Taiwan, December 18, 2018 - QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP), a leading storage, network and computing solution provider, today announced the 8th Gen Intel® Core™ based TVS-x72XU rackmount NAS series, including 8, 12, 16, and 24-bay models and a 9-bay hybrid storage model that supports four 3.5-inch HDDs and five 2.5-inch SSDs. The entire lineup comes with two 10GbE SFP+ SmartNIC ports, flexibility for PCIe expansion, and HDMI 2.0 (4K@60Hz) output. Paired with QNAP’s exclusive software-defined SSD extra over-provisioning and comprehensive virtualization, the TVS-x72XU series fulfills requirements for high-speed storage, collaboration, backup, disaster recovery, and iSCSI applications above and beyond basic everyday business needs.

“The TVS-x72XU series demonstrates excellent performance and I/O expansion for versatile business applications,” said David Tsao, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “besides the SmartNIC featuring 10GbE SFP+ connectivity and SSD-optimized technology, the TVS-x72XU series is a perfect option for organizations that particularly require HDMI-output for their application usage.”

The TVS-x72XU series is powered by high-performance 8th Gen Intel® Core™ processors that support AES-NI encryption acceleration and feature integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 630 for smooth 4K (H.264) video transcoding, along with up to 64 GB dual-channel DDR4 memory. The PCIe slots introduce flexible I/O expansion, allowing users to install 10GbE/ 25GbE/ 40GbE network cards for bandwidth-demanding applications, QM2 cards for adding additional M.2 SSDs, and graphics cards for empowering GPGPU tasks.

The TVS-x72XU series provides two 10GbE SFP+ ports and will support QNAP’s new 25GbE NIC (QXG-25G2SF-CX4) to accelerate file sharing and intensive data transfer, realize high-speed remote backup via Hybrid Backup Sync, and support iSER (iSCSI Extension for RDMA) to improve VMware virtualization performance by using the Mellanox® ConnectX®-4 Lx SmartNIC controller. Users can also enable SSD caching to tackle IOPS-demanding applications and allocate SSD extra over-provisioning (from 1% to 60%) to  potentially attain performance and endurance levels similar to enterprise-grade SSDs to enjoy faster file backups, optimized virtualization applications, and smoother multimedia experiences. By enabling Qtier™ auto-tiering on the TVS-x72XU series, organizations can buy a minimal number of SSDs, and attain the highest value/performance and optimal storage efficiency.

Running the latest QTS 4.4.0 operating system, the TVS-x72XU series provides a well-rounded NAS solution with performance, reliability, scalability, and rich business-ready features. The block-based snapshot protection helps users to mitigate the impact of ransomware and reduces disaster recovery time. The ability to host multiple virtual machines and containers helps to realize additional application potential. The Network & Virtual Switch features flexible manageability for reorganizing physical and virtual network connections with greater ease. QVR Pro establishes a professional yet affordable video surveillance system (with 8 free IP camera channels, expandable to 128 channels by purchasing additional licenses) and can be monitored using an HDMI 2.0 display (supports up to 4K resolutions at 60Hz).
