Motorola has officially confirmed that two new tablets in its Xoom range will launch later this month, including a ‘Media Edition’ - a lighter, smaller and more portable version than the standard model.

Both Xoom 2 models come equipped with Android 3.2 and sport a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, as well as front- and rear-facing cameras and 16GB of storage.

The standard Xoom 2 tablet will feature a 10.1in display like its predecessor, weigh 599 grams and have a battery that's good for 10 hours of “web usage.”

The Media Edition will feature a smaller 8.2in screen, will weigh 386 grams and have a battery that enables six hours of “web usage.”

Both models will be available across the UK and Ireland in mid-November, according to Motorola.

Lets hope the transformer 2 is less of a disappointment than this. I was hoping for a next generation product and not a last gen product that has been on a diet.
What was the point in Google buying Motorola if Moto are going to be consistently behind the curve? I would have thought the buy out would hav pushed them rapidly to the front of the pile with regards to releases and compatability.

Its good Google as continuing to support its other partners and all but still…
I don't think that Google getting Motorola would of happened long enough ago to have bearing on Xoom 2, maybe 3..?
Perhaps, still would have thought they would think again about the general impression this gives about the purchase before releasing such a half assed improvement over the original Xoom. I dunno maybe im making a fuss over nothing, Google have said that ICS will run on anything that can run 2.3 and above so its not a massive deal.
