Grand Theft Auto III landing on iOS and Android next week

Rockstar Games is bringing Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition to Android and iOS devices on December 15th.

Available on iPad 1 and 2, iPhone 4 and 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation and a selection of Android devices, GTA III set players loose as a small-time criminal at the bottom of the food chain in Liberty City. The game features over 80 gangland missions as you work your way through the hierarchy of the gangs, meet bigger bosses, and get better jobs.

Priced at £2.99, GTA III will be available on the following devices:

Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation

Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x

Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive

Rockstar is currently working on Grand Theft Auto V and released a trailer for the game recently. Though a release date has not been announced, the next itertation in the award-winning series is expected to be released late 2012.

Good idea on the pad - I remember getting a PS2->PC interface to play that on my PC, because it was far easier with a gamepad. Wonder if someone'll manage to get a USB pad supported - after all some of the Android tablets mentioned have USB ports. :)

Since I just finished Saints Row 3 recently, I wonder if there's any chance we'd see SR2 on tablets? … I know, probably not. :(

I'd be surprised if the controls are any good at all on a touchscreen device. Likely to be near unplayable IMO.
