Apple seems unwilling to relinquish the renewed hype following the iPad's launch to the buying public. Having proudly boasted it has shifted over 300,000 iPads (including pre-orders) on its first day, Apple has also sent out press invites to a US event to: "Get a sneak peek into the future of iPhone OS," with a big ‘4' on it.

Meanwhile Microsoft has sent out invited to an event on the 12th, stating simply: "It's time to share". Several reports are saying their sources have confirmed this will be the launch of the long-rumoured Project Pink - a Microsoft-branded entry-level phone family that is expected to be aimed at younger consumers and draw heavily on its Sidekick cloud platform.

There's an outside chance that the Microsoft event will be the unveiling of the Courier twin-screen digital journal, but the smart money is on Project Pink.

Lastly, HP doesn't us to forget that it will be launching its own slate later this year. In a posting on the Voodoo blog it released yet another teaser trailer, showing a few more of the groovy things it promises to do.

Meanwhile the trickle of leaked information about the HP slate continues. This time Engadget reckons it's got hold of an HP internal presentation revealing it will run Intel Atom Z530 CPU and hence only around five hours battery life. The pricing is given as $549-$599.
