What don't we like?
Apart from the excellent cut-scenes, Godfather II lacks consistency in its graphics and at times looks like an Xbox or PS2 game with some ugly visuals and characters who walk around the city that look like they've been plucked straight out of The Sims. Though there are a lot of missions to get through they generally involve doing the same thing over and over again - go to business, kill the guards, intimidate owner, rinse and repeat. There's only a small variety of other missions and although it is satisfying taking on another crime family on their own patch, some of the other side objectives such as 'favours,' where you'll generally have to threaten someone in return for information, are extremely mundane. The AI can also be horrific. From the people on the street who get in your way to enemies who just stand there when you shoot at them, right to your own team-mates who don't always follow your commands, there's never any real consistency throughout the game.

After the first hour or so it feels like you’ve seen it all in Godfather II.

Final Thoughts
Despite some serious negatives, Godfather II is still good fun to play for the most part and it doesn't require much thought, even with the added resource management. There's something quite addictive about capturing all of the business in a crime ring and then watching the money roll in while unlocking better armour, weapons and being able to upgrade your hired thugs. Still, you should rent before you buy.

VERDICT : 7/10

i must say i have the game, an really enjoy it, alot like GTA but somehow find it more fun! :)
it is repetitive but doesnt seem to bother me , its alot of fun and certainly one for the collection!
I'm a bit iffy about this.
I actually really liked the first, but I'm not sure about the change of setting, and as mentioned in the review it really does look a bit outdated.
I'll probably hold out for Mafia II methinks :)
