Following a lengthy lawsuit, Nintendo has been ordered to pay $21million to a small gaming company in Texas after the court ruled that it had infringed a patent relating to Wii Classic and Gamecube controllers

Anascape Ltd.first filed the claim against the US branch of Nintendo in 2006 claiming that it had infringed on 12 patents that dealt with the likes of analog sensors, tactile feedback and vibration mechanisms.

Nintendo has applied to appeal and has stated that it expects a significant reduction on the fee imposed by the federal jury.

Microsoft were also in the frame for similiar infringements on Anascape's patents, but the electroinc's giant settled out of court for an undisclosed sum before the Nintendo trial.

Would have thought the analogue technology in the classic and Wavebird controllers would have also been in the N64? and what products to Anascape actually produce? - I did a quick google and couldn't come up with anything conclusive.

yeah, they don't seem to have a website so they must be small. I've just seen them described as a gaming company.

They've got some wedge now to expand though!
