Blu-ray discs reasonably priced

Sony is relying heavily on the Blu-ray Disc format, so from the company's point of view, the use of Blu-ray as the market standard in next-generation media is vital, especially since Sony also publishes movies through its Sony Pictures subsidiary. The Blu-ray Disc ROM format will be the primary storage medium for Sony's Playstation 3.

The PS3 is launching right at the forefront of Blu-ray Disc. If Sony ships the kind of numbers expected, we will see a rapid growth of players out there hungry for new movie titles, and at these prices you can't complain.

Yahoo news states that, "Catalog Blu-ray disc titles will wholesale for $17.95, about the same as DVDs when that format hit the market in 1997. New-release Blu-ray discs will wholesale for $23.45, a premium of 15%-20% over what suppliers were charging for new theatrical DVDs..

In english money that's around £10 and £13.50 respectively! These are wholesale prices so we will see a price hike to cover retailer's cost.
