The Board Itself

So how has Intel put the BT2 together and with what features?

• Support for all Intel Socket 478 processors including Pentium 4, Celeron and processors supporting HyperThreading
• DDR200/266/333 memory support, 2GB max over 2 slots
• Supports AGP4X with Fast Writes via 1.5V AGP4X compatible slot
• 5 x 32-bit 33MHz, PCI2.1 compatible PCI slots
• CNR expansion slot
• 4 device ATA100 support from ICH4 IDE controller with 2 IDE ports
• Silicon Image SATALink Serial ATA controller with 2 SATA ports
• PS/2 keyboard/mouse support
• Agere IEE1394 Firewire controller with 1 backplane port and 2 board headers
• 4 backplane port USB 2.0 support from ICH4 and 1 board header
• 6 channel hardware audio onboard with digital optical Toslink output and coaxial digital output using SoundMAX Cadenza AD1980 Codec
• Floppy drive controller port
• Parallel and serial port
• Onboard 10/100MBit Ethernet support with RJ45 port

With all the features you've come to know and love on full featured desktop boards from other manufacturers, the BT2 implements everything from Firewire to Serial ATA to Ethernet to give you all the features a high end desktop board should. They are particularly proud of the audio support from SoundMAX which I'll cover later in the review, but it's worth noting the support for digital connections, especially in the form of an oft missed Toslink connector, something I'd much rather see over an equivalent coax connector which also appears on the BT2.

Everything is present and correct with 5 PCI and the largely redundant CNR slot making up the rest of the features that you need. HyperThreading support also exists for those with a processor capable of exposing the feature.

So how is it laid out?
