Lenovo has today expanded its line of ThinkPad notebooks with the introduction of the ThinkPad T400s, a system it claims is designed to "give business users a thin and light yet powerful, feature-packed PC".
The ThinkPad T400s, pictured below, isn't exactly what we'd call a looker but it seems to meet each of Lenovo's goals. The slim system is just 21mm thick, and a frame consisting of carbon-reinforced fibre helps keep the notebook's weight under 1.8kg.

Given the T400s' dimensions and weight, you'd be forgiven for thinking it sports a toned-down CPU and no optical drive - as is often the case for ultra-thin notebooks. Fortunately, and in-keeping with Lenovo's existing super-slim designs, that's anything but the case.
The system sports a 14.1in LED display, and according to Lenovo, it will offer the following choice of hardware:
- Choices of Intel 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo processors (standard voltage) and graphics
 - Choices of solid state drive storage up to 128GB or 250GB hard drive storage
 - 9.5mm slim DVD burner or Blu-ray player
 - Ethernet, WiFi and optional WiMAX3, WWAN,3 Bluetooth and ultrawideband connectivity
 - 34mm Express Card slot or 5-in-1 multimedia card reader
 - Support for Lenovo’s ConstantConnect and Protect technology that allows users to maximise integration of their BlackBerry smartphone and ThinkPad laptop
 - Nearly six hours of battery life
 - Supports up to two monitors via a DisplayPort and VGA connector
 - Meets the Energy Star 5.0 criteria for energy efficiency
 - Built-in USB/eSATA port

Sounds like a well equipped ultra-thin 14.1in notebook, and Lenovo is shipping immediately with prices starting at £1,760.
