Today is Friday 13th May, and yes, DOOM is now available. Yesterday we covered AMD's launch of a DOOM 'game ready driver' but Nvidia hasn't neglected the release, and has readied the GeForce Game Ready 365.19 WHQL driver for fans of this seminal FPS gaming franchise.

Nvidia's 365.19 WHQL driver release is said to provide "the best possible framerates and frametimes whether you're playing (DOOM) alone or online." It goes on to promise that support for DOOM via the Vulkan API will be forthcoming and provide even better frame rates. You can see a direct feed, high quality, video of DOOM being played on a GeForce GTX TITAN X via the Vulkan API here.

Other games titles getting the 'game ready' treatment today are Homefront: The Revolution, and Master of Orion. The driver improvements for gamers don't stop there. Nvidia has implemented a host of new or updated SLI profiles as bullet point listed below:

Added or updated the following SLI profiles:

  • Battleborn - AFR SLI profile added
  • Battlefleet Gothic Armada - SLI Single set
  • Dead Island - redux version EXE added to original profile
  • Dead Island: Riptide - redux version EXE added to original profile
  • Master of Orion - AFR SLI profile added
  • Obscuritas - AFR SLI profile added
  • The Moonlight Blade - SLI Single set
  • The Solus Project - SLI Single set
  • World of Warships - Unfortunately for players of this game, SLI has been disabled pending a bug fixing session

Any driver update usually includes a set of fixes, and this one includes a wide range of bugs fixes for issues ranging from OS crashes, DisplayPort flickering, and (interestingly) support for Microsoft hybrids based on Apollo Lake and Kaby Lake CPUs… You can read the full rundown of the fixes and remaining issues in this driver in the release notes.
