XFX set to sex up 7900 GTX

XFX confirmed to us today that they're looking at producing three GeForce 7900 GTX products, with the top of the range XXX edition sporting 'significantly' higher clock speeds than the 650/800 reference frequencies set out by NVIDIA.

Our recent analysis shows that the SKU needs a performance boost to overtake ATI's Radeon X1900 XTX, since NVIDIA's new product doesn't quite make it at 650. We expect a core clock in the region of 700 to 725MHz for the XXX, which should do the trick.

XFX also have 7900 GT and 7600 GT products ready to go, including reference cooled basic versions at standard clocks.

They acknowledge the cooler on 7900 GT and 7600 GT isn't the best, and told us to look out for versions that use something different, solving that cooler's main problem of excessive noise.
