AMD is having a feature-packed couple of months as far as its ATI Catalyst drivers are concerned.

Following last month's introduction of Catalyst 10.2, the graphics powerhouse has today made available a preview release of Catalyst 10.3, allowing users to get a sneak peek ahead of a WHQL-certified release this time next week.

Catalyst 10.3 is said to bring notable performance boosts to AMD's ATI Radeon HD 4800 series and 5800 series products, with gains of up to 20 per cent said to be achievable in DirectX 11 title DiRT 2.

The release also introduces ATI Catalyst Mobility, bringing AMD's monthly updates to notebook users with Mobility Radeon 2000, 3000, 4000 or 5000 series GPUs. Other features include a bevy of ATI Eyefinity enhancements, and added support for stereoscopic 3D, both of which are detailed by AMD as follows:

ATI Catalyst Control Center - ATI Eyefinity technology enhancements

  • Display Bezel Compensation
    • Easy-to-use wizard  shows users how to adjust their display layout to remove the pixels occupied by their display bezels
  • Per-Display Color Adjust
    • Individual Color, Brightness and Contrast controls
  • Multiple ATI Eyefinity Groups
    • Create more than one ATI Eyefinity group from multiple displays
  • Improved Display Configuration switching
    • Support for ATI Eyefinity groups and the ATI Catalyst Control Center profile manager
  • Easy to toggle between cloned and extended desktop modes

ATI Catalyst support for 3D Stereoscopic glasses

  • AMD has updated it's Direct3D (Quad buffer support) driver to enable 3rd party middleware vendors such as iZ3D to output stereo L/R images at 120 Hz (60 Hz per eye)

Still havent fixed the bluescreen playing any directx game with two 5970's and six monitors, 3 plugged into each, crossfire off, issue reported two months ago!
I cant believe how fast these drivers are!.

In Crysis, Metro 2033, the difference is much bigger that can you imagine.

Just because it's not common, doesn't mean it shouldn't get fixed :surprised:

if I paid £1000 on graphics cards I'd expect ATI to be coming round to my house to write me some user-specific drivers!
