To coincide with the launch of OpenGL 3.2, NVIDIA has made available a set of supporting drivers.

ForceWare 190.56, available to download from NVIDIA's Developer Zone, provides beta support for both OpenGL 3.2 and GLSL 1.50. The release supports a wide range of NVIDIA GPUs, including Quadro, GeForce and ION parts - a complete list of compatible products can be found here.

With OpenGL's cross-platform credentials, NVIDIA has also been quick to make drivers available for freeware operating systems such as Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD. The Linux driver release is given version number 190.18.03.

Both Windows and Linux drivers introduce the following new OpenGL 3.2 extensions:

For OpenGL 2.1 capable hardware:

  • ARB_fragment_coord_conventions
  • ARB_provoking_vertex
  • ARB_vertex_array_bgra
  • ARB_depth_clamp

For OpenGL 3 capable hardware:

  • WGL_ARB_create_context (updated to create profiles)
  • GLX_ARB_create_context (updated to create profiles)
  • GL_EXT_separate_shader_objects
  • GL_NV_parameter_buffer_object2
  • GL_NV_copy_image.txt

Users can find NVIDIA's release notes, and download links for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the driver, at Developer.NVIDA.com.
