PRESS RELEASE

Rushden, UK – January 20, 2016 – Linksys®, a leader in networking solutions for the home and business has announced a new ADSL/VDSL Dual-Band WiFi Modem Router – the X6200. The new modem router provides a cable modem or DSL modem and a router all-in-one for a seamless wireless broadband networking experience.

As cable broadband service providers roll out more premium cable services, the requirement for having the right hardware to go along with the new services are critical to ensuring customers maximize their internet speeds.  “There is a lack of knowledge when it comes to cable modems.  Consumers have cable modems or gateways that don’t match the cable broadband subscriptions they are paying for – thus getting slower speeds and frustrating experiences,” said Justin Doucette, director of product management, Linksys.

Linksys and DD-WRT®, a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware suitable for a variety of WLAN routers and embedded systems, also announced the expansion of DD-WRT support to include the WRT1900AC, WRT1200AC, and recently released WRT1900ACS  Dual-band Gigabit Wi-Fi routers‡.

DD-WRT now expands the third party firmware choices for the WRT series of routers beyond the current support via OpenWrt's "Chaos Calmer" release, and positions the WRT platform as a leading choice for open source developers. DD-WRT will also be able to provide custom firmware solutions for commercial applications built on the new Linksys WRT platform just as they have for the last 12+ years on the venerable WRT54G.

Linksys ADSL/VDSL Dual-Band WiFi Modem Router – (X6200)

Plus, use the high-performance USB 2.0 port to attach a storage device and quickly transfer large files or share devices across your Wi-Fi network.

The X6200 also contains a built-in DSL modem, making it easy to connect to DSL Internet service and enjoy fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the home without having to purchase an additional device.  Additional features include:
