PRESS RELEASE

Rushden, UK - July 16, 2015 - Linksys®, the first to sell 100 million routers globally and a leader in networking solutions for the home and business, today announced the newest addition to its Wi-Fi range extender family, the Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE6700), as well as the first dual-band, omni-directional high-gain antennas for the consumer market - the Linksys WRT004ANT and Linksys WRT002ANT.

Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender - RE6700

The new RE6700 range extender provides customers with a Wi-Fi signal boost into rooms throughout the house with a simple, elegant and easy-to-install solution that would blend in with the home décor. The built in power outlet maintains use of an existing wall outlet with pass-through functionality - a new and unique offering for Linksys Wireless-AC range extenders.

Wi-Fi range extenders help eliminate frustrating dead zones by detecting, then amplifying a router's Wi-Fi signal so it extends to the remote areas of a home, basement, and even the backyard. But if a range extender is not installed in an optimal location, users may not be getting the most out of this powerful connectivity solution. So Linksys developed Spot Finder Technology, which enables users to visually see the best placement spot for the range extender in the home; using their smart phone, tablet or laptop. Spot Finder Technology automatically activates when the setup process is launched. Just follow a few prompts for a hassle-free setup and improved Wi-Fi to existing dead zones.

"With more and more devices connecting to the home wireless network, the demands to extend that wireless signal are at an all-time high", said Mike Chen, vice president, product management at Linksys. "Mobile devices are driving this demand because users want to take their devices all around the house but can be limited if the Wi-Fi signal doesn't reach. We designed this new RE6700 range extender to provide better coverage and increased signal strength so all devices in the home can enjoy a seamless high-speed wireless experience."

Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender - RE6700 Features:

  • Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless AC1200 (N300 + AC867 Mbps*)
  • Spot Finder Technology - for optimal placement and performance
  • Integrated power outlet - flexible plug-in placement maintains use of existing wall outlet
  • External Antenna for better Wi-Fi coverage and performance
  • Auto Cross Band Technology allows for the simultaneous use of both wireless bands for providing high speed data transfer to help with uninterrupted music/video streaming and gaming
  • Gigabit Port for connecting a single wired device or plug in a Gigabit switch for connecting multiple wired devices to a wireless network
  • 3.5mm audio jack allows users to connect speakers to the range extender to stream music wirelessly from your iOS or Android smartphone, tablet, or laptop
  • Works with any router or gateway including routers supplied by service provider

Linksys WRT004ANT and Linksys WRT002ANT High-Gain Antennas

Linksys' high-gain antennas, the first of their kind, are available in a 2- and 4-pack (WRT004ANT and WRT002ANT) and help improve a router's signal strength specifically at the edge of a Wi-Fi network, resulting in enhanced Wi-Fi performance. The new dual-band high-gain antennas are the first of their kind and compatible with any wireless router that features an RP-SMA connection, and deliver 4dBi in the 2.4GHz band and 7dBi in the 5 GHz band for up to 2X+ antenna gain over stock antennas. Easy to install, simply detach your router's factory antennas and replace with the new high-gain antennas.

Speaking on the consumer benefits of dual-band high-gain antennas, Mr. Chen said: "Antennas amplify a Wi-Fi signal and improve performance within the coverage area - providing a stronger Wi-Fi signal. New antennas like ours will help customers that are looking to improve their Wi-Fi throughput at the boundaries of their existing wireless network. In Linksys testing, the antennas optimise performance best in a single story environment where the router is on the same floor as the primary Wi-Fi usage. If users require signal enhancement on multiple floors, a range extender is more ideal."

Linksys WRT004ANT and WRT002ANT Omni-directional High Gain Antennas Features:

  • 7dBi on a 5GHz band provides a 2x gain+ over stock antennas
  • Simultaneous Dual Band operates on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands
  • Omni-directional capability extends Wi-Fi coverage for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands on the horizontal plane
  • RP-SMA Connectors enable easy installation on routers: simply detach factor antennas and replace with the High Gain Antennas

*Maximum performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specification. Actual performance can vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, range, and coverage. Performance depends on many factors, conditions, and variables, including distance from the access point, volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, operating system used, mix of wireless products used, interference, and other adverse conditions.
