PRESS RELEASE

Latest access point provides upgrade path for small businesses looking to deploy  a highly scalable Wi-Fi network with increased bandwidth and flexibility

London, Wednesday 16th April 2014 - D-Link is helping small and medium-sized businesses to easily and affordably reap the benefits of Wireless AC, with the launch of the Wireless AC1750 Dual-Band Unified Access Point (DWL-8610AP).

This access point provides a clear upgrade path for businesses to embrace the benefits of the latest wireless specification. As such, businesses get greater network reach across the office without interruption and by using less equipment than traditionally required. They can also support more devices, more reliably, with fewer concerns about security or backwards compatibility.

With combined wireless speeds of up to 1750Mbps, high network performance applications like video conferencing and cloud-based systems, work seamlessly via this access point. Support for two concurrent wireless bands helps reduce interference and ensures compatibility for all devices.

"In an age of smartphones, tablets and laptops, the modern business network has to deal with more traffic and devices than ever before. Wireless AC brings a lot of features to overcome these challenges, and this new access point provides the perfect method of entry to this standard for small businesses," said Andrew Mulholland, Head of Business Solutions, D-Link UK&I.

"According to analyst firm IDC, nearly 250,000 Wireless AC enterprise-class access points were shipped in 2013 and this figure is predicted to reach 1.6 million in 2014. There is a clear drive to adopt Wireless AC by businesses and D-Link is proud to be leading the charge with products like the DWL-8610AP."

For network managers the Wireless AC1750 Dual-Band Unified Access Point can work as a standalone wireless unit, self-configuring cluster or be centrally managed through a unified switch or wireless controller. Up to 192 of these access points can be centrally managed and D-Link's Unified Wireless systems empower administrators to exercise total control over their wireless networks by centralising all aspects of provisioning and management.

Furthermore, the access point supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), making it perfect for deployment in areas lacking readily available power outlets, as there is no need for a separate power supply.

Added to this are features like load balancing with band steering to provide a more stable and faster wireless connection, strong security and authentication features, as well as Wireless LAN segmentation and VLAN support. All together this makes the Wireless AC1750 Dual-Band Unified Access Point a highly scalable option with easy deployment and management.

D-Link's Wireless AC1750 Dual-Band Unified Access Point is a versatile solution for almost any business looking to benefit from the latest and fastest wireless technology. It provides all the tools necessary to set an upgrade path and timetable to suit the business' needs, while still being able to connect all their mobile devices and computers to their network.
