PRESS RELEASE

New M50 display floats on air but delivers big punch

Slough, UK - 11 March 2011: The new M50 TV monitor from LG Electronics is designed for both computer and video display, making it ideal for consumers who look to their screen for entertainment as much as information. Built-in functionality means it is ready for HD video without complex set-ups and interfaces. The M50 TV monitor is part of a comprehensive range of LED illuminated displays for all applications from LG, each delivering the best possible energy efficiency without compromising the performance demanded in its class.

The slim profile of the display - the panel itself is just 16.8mm - together with creative use of transparent plastics, lighting effects and a slender, arc-shaped base make the screen seem to float on air. Its performance belies its lightweight appearance, with full HD resolution video and 2 x 5W speakers for rich stereo sound. The M50 is available in four screen sizes from 18.5" to 25", large enough for use away from the desktop.

As well as D-Sub and DVI computer inputs the user can connect video and other sources via HDMI, component and composite video, and USB plug and play. Built-in MPEG-1/2/4 and DivX decoders means that encoded video can be played from any source without the need for a computer.

The M50 series is built with the latest LG LED-backlit technology, including wide 170˚ viewing angle, fast 5ms response time and remarkable five million to one contrast ratio. The use of LED backlighting helps LG achieve a 40% power saving over conventional LCD displays, and together with the elimination of halogens and mercury from the construction ensures that the M50 series of displays achieves the highest environmental ratings.
