TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Jan 23, 2003 – Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading supplier of core logic and graphics chipsets, today announced the worldwide first motherboard featuring the SiSR658 chipset and RDRAM® memory designed by ABIT is now available on the market. Developed jointly with RAMBUS and Samsung, the leading memory vendors, ABIT’s SI7 motherboard is designed for power users seeking PCs with the highest performance and best features.

“SiS is a leader at supplying customers with the highest performance computing solutions with features such as AGP8X, and the fastest memory,” said Stephen Chen, Vice President of SiS. “The SiSR658 chipset, combined with the powerful Intel® Pentium 4® processor and the bandwidth of RDRAM memory, enables us to deliver the fastest and smoothest computing experience.”

“ABIT products are known for high performance and reliability, and our SI7 motherboard is no exception,” said Edwin Lin, General Manager of ABIT. “Using the SiS R658 chipset, ABIT’s SI7 motherboard offers all ultra high-end features for the enthusiasts including Gigabit LAN, Serial ATA, IEEE 1394a, and 1200MHz RDRAM.”

“Samsung is committed to providing the fastest memory for the ultimate computing and gaming experience,” said Jon Kang, Senior Vice President of Memory Product Planning and Engineering, Samsung Electronics. “Most of today’s benchmark test results prove that the PC1200 RDRAM performance, which is strongly influenced by memory frequency and bandwidth, is superior to other PC systems. In fact, the high memory frequency and bandwidth of our PC1200 RDRAM has outperformed other PC systems in benchmark test results.”

The ABIT SI7 supports up to 2 GB 1200/1066MHz RDRAM memory capacity and fully supports AGP8X interface for powerful graphics chips. In addition, the SiSR658/963 chipsets are also equipped with powerful multimedia functions, including 5.1 Channel AC'97 2.2 Audio, 10/100MB Ethernet, Home PNA2.0 and Dual ATA133/100/66 IDE Channels, six USB 2.0/1.1 ports, and three 1394a ports, which can fully meet high-end PC requirements.
