EUROPE'S LARGEST VIDEO GAME EXPO


AMD and Italian OEM Fraelpoint to provide high
performing


AMD Athlon(tm) XP processor-based systems at PLAY-


MILANO, ITALY-April 22, 2002-AMD [NYSE: AMD], a global
manufacturer of high performance microprocessors and flash memory devices, today
announced that it is one of the main sponsors of PLAY, Europe's largest ever
video game exposition. PLAY will take place in Rome at the prestigious and
historical Palazzo Esposizioni from April 23 until July 10, 2002.


At PLAY, AMD will partner with Fraelpoint, a leading
Italian PC manufacturer, to provide systems based on high performance AMD
Athlon(tm) XP processors, both in the Game PC section and in the Internet area.
"Since the introduction of the AMD Athlon processor family, AMD has received
extraordinary support from the PC gaming community, who demand the highest
performance in a PC," said Mr. Vincenzo Pistillo, AMD regional marketing
manager, Southern Europe. "Gamers understand that performance is more than
megahertz and AMD gives them the performance they demand. Sponsoring PLAY gives
us an opportunity to recognize the loyalty of gamers and their passion for our
technology." "Having AMD sponsor our show is a natural fit because of their
status as the platform of choice among today's PC gamers," said Jaime
D'Alessandro, exposition curator. "AMD and Fraelpoint offer an ideal PC gaming
system for end users and our show."

AMD and Fraelpoint have previously worked together in
the gaming and multimedia area, co-sponsoring the "Creative Web Festival" at
Fondazione Triennale in Milano, Italy, last November.
