Ever felt like flinging your mobile phone as far away as possible? Well on August 20 - at the UK Mobile Phone Throwing Championship - you can do just that and help earn money for the charity ActionAid.
What you'll actually be doing, in truth, is not throwing your own phone but the same one as other competitors. But, even so, on the day you can still get rid of any old (or new) phones you don't want. The competition organiser, sport and adventure club 8th Day UK, will be collecting unwanted phones (and empty inkjet and laser cartridges, too) to pass on to ActionAid Recycling.
The event runs from 2pm to 7pm and is taking place in London SW17 at the Tooting Bec Athletics Track. Entry to the competition costs £5 and gets you three attempts to break the current records - World (men), 94.97m; World (women), 41.42m; UK (men), 69.31m; UK (women), 38.74m.
Find out more and register your interest at the UK Mobile Phone Throwing Championship site. And, if you really have ever felt like throwing your phone as far away as possible (or actually done that) let us hear why over in the HEXUS.community.
