More fuel for the addiction

RIM, the company behind the BlackBerry business-oriented mobile phones, launched a new product called the Presented at CES 2010, which allows users to connect their handset directly with a projector or monitor and share all the lovely PowerPoint presentations they have stored on the device.

It's a pretty small box with a micro USB, a VGA and an S-video port. The Micro USB port seems to be intended primarily for the power lead, however, as the Presenter is designed to received data from devices via Bluetooth 2.0.

Here are some specs:

  • Dimensions and weight -- 3.4" x 2.4" x 0.9" and 140g
  • Video Formats Supported: NTSC, PAL
  • Display Resolution Support: 640x480 (VGA), 800x600 (SVGA), 1024x768 (XGA)
  • Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR, Class 1.5
  • No additional file processing required - present files directly without having to pre-process the file on the PC
  • Languages Supported: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish

RIM hasn't confirmed when it will be available, or where, but it will cost $199 in the US.

Bet you won't be streaming Crysis at 60fps through that!! (However, come to think of it, you might not play Crysis on your BlackBerry to begin with; ignore me. :surrender:)
