Man accuses MS of rushing faulty Xbox 360s to the market
Over in the US a man has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft for, he says, rushing an defective product to the market in an attempt to grab a market share of the next-gen console market.
According to Reuters, Robert Byers has filed the lawsuit claiming damages for litigation costs and the recall or replacement of all Xbox 360 consoles, citing the overheating PSU and CPU as affecting the performance of the other hardware inside the Xbox 360.
HEXUS.gaming can’t comment on how likely Byers is to win his case but we feel that this is perhaps an unreasonable lawsuit. Any new product will have teething troubles and business and market pressured may well see products hitting the shelves before they have been completely perfected. The original Xbox went through several revisions and updates, as did the PS2, each time addressing an issue that had appeared in a comparative minority of units.
The Xbox 360 is a huge leap for Microsoft, in terms of hardware architecture and performance and even with the most rigorous of testing, issues will still appear. What’s important is that Microsoft are working to resolve these issues, not just on a mass production scale, but also on an individual case basis, replacing faulty units as quickly as possible, which, as far as we at HEXUS.gaming can see, they are doing.
