With Halo 3 lagging just behind Call of Duty 4 in the Xbox live activity chart, Bungie has decided to give the first person shooter a boost with a a number of additional features this week.

The free download will kick in automatically on Tuesday, September 23d and will include a new ranking system, amendments to the current playlists, including the removal of some of the classic modes, and a host of new achievements. As part of the update, the official Halo 3 website, Bungie.net, will also receive some changes over the next few days to improve its community features.

Bungie has stated that the download may not be as smooth as we'd like and some users may have to reset their Xbox 360 cache in order for it to work.

For full details on the update, check out Bungie.net.
