Soul Caliber IV set for simultaneous release on Xbox 360 and PS3

Confirmed online competitive play

The fourth installment of the weapon-based fighting series, Soul Caliber IV is set for a simultaneous release on Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer.

Ubisoft has confirmed that both versions of Soul Caliber IV will be available on July 31st, 2008 and for the first time in the series history, will feature competitive online play.

Namco Bandai has also made the decision to offer each console an exclusive character, with PS3 gamers getting Darth Vader, and Xbox 360 owners being offered Yoda. It's also possible that more characters may be available for download at a later date via the consoles' online stores.

- Equipment Destruction: Now the wages of battle are shown as protective armor can be broken off and visible lacerations of clothing can be seen.

I played Soul Caliber IV at Play.com Live and didn't think that much of it. Pretty but it ain't no Tekken.
