Nintendo enjoy third best sales week

Sales figures for the Easter period reveal that, despite ongoing stock shortages, Nintendo and their Wii has come out on top, selling 25,000 Wii units over the last week.

According to Chart-Track figures, Sony sold 17,000 PS3s and Microsoft shifted 11,000 Xbox 360s in the same period. Talking to Games Industry.biz, Nintendo commented on the sales, saying that "Last week was Wii's third biggest sales week since launch. Everything we are shipping, we are selling."

The rise is Wii sales was due to more stock being shipped out for the holiday period, although reports suggest that supplies of Wii will still be low over the coming months.

"Demand for the console is clearly huge and is exceeding supply. We are doing everything we can to get as much stock out there as possible."

On another note, the internet channel update is now available for Wii allowing you to download the full version of the Opera browser, which will have improved functionality and extra features. Hurry up though, otherwise it will cost you 500 points from June 30th onwards.
