Nintendo are ploughing a whopping £11 million pounds into the UK marketing campaign. According to trade magazine, MCV, the UK campaign will mainly concentrate on television and cinema adverts, "It is our intention to make the Wii the number one console in the UK,” said Wii's product manager Rob Lowe. “The campaign focuses on real people playing and having fun.”

Nintendo have said that in the lead up to launch it will difficult to avoid the "Wii Move You" campaign as they plan advertisements that will also appear on some of the largest web portals, including Yahoo, Lycos and MSN.

"Particularly over the launch week we'll completely take them over - you'll go online and see Wii everywhere," said Lowe.

Ya know I really hope the Big N get the Wii selling :)
Me too its about time for them to re-enter the market and it will be important they get the message of gameplay over graphics across to the audiences.

Its the first time I know at least 3 people I know (so 4 including me) are seriously intent buying one.
A bit more info here: http://www.mcvuk.com/newsitem.php?id=24572 and http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20531

A few questions though:

How much airtime does £11m buy then? (I suppose that depends on channel and time really)

Any idea how much MS spent on the 360 campaign? I don't seem to be able to remember any 360 TV adverts.

How much have the other console manufacturers spent on advertising for the first 6 months of the console's “life”?
