The price is right

Sainsbury's has cut the price of Nintendo consoles by a quarter as part of a limited offer.

Unfortunately it has not extended the price saving to Microsoft's Kinect or Sony's Play products which are both predicted to be Christmas best-sellers, but the supermarket reckons it has never sold Nintendo consoles for less.

While many portable console gurus might be waiting for the lanch of Nintendo's 3DS three dimensional portable console next year, other customers can pick up a DSi XL console for less than the RRP of its smaller peer under the offer.

Shoppers are limited to one console per customer which will be available in store and with a limited online stock. The offer runs from today, 17 November until Thursday 2 December.

Sainsbury's console offers are:

The supermarket has recently announced plans to launch a digital download service in time for Christmas as part of a wider initiative to ramp up its online entertainment offering, with a new website launched a couple of weeks back.

The new site, www.sainsburys.co.uk/entertainment, provides people with access to over 150,000 books, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs and games to pre-order and purchase online, but in doing so is going head-to-head with the likes of iTunes and Amazon.
