Casual games for the casual gamer

Wii owners across Europe will be greeted with a glowing light this morning that will point them to the fact that the WiiWare channel has launched!

The channel gives developers the opportunity to create the next groundbreaking video game for Wii and create exciting new downloadable game’s to be sold through the Wii Shop Channel.

The channel is aimed at the casual gamer and the WiiWare games will be available to download directly onto Wii from the Wii Shop Channel from 500 Wii Points. To date, Nintendo say that a vast array of exciting and creative new projects are already in the pipeline, ensuring fresh concepts and content will frequently become available for all to enjoy.

The first batch of games out this week are:

· Dr. Mario & Germ Buster from Nintendo

· Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King from Japanese developer SQUARE ENIX

· Lost Winds from UK developer Frontier

· Pirates: The Key of Dreams from Dutch developer Oxygen Interactive Ltd

· Pop from Australian developer Nnooo

· Star Soldier R from Japanese developer HUDSON SOFT

· Toki Tori from Dutch developer Two Tribes B.V.

· TV Show King from French developer Gameloft

500 points for the channel is totally out of order. I normally dont mind buying games/points but this goes too far.
I won't be downloading it. Casual games get on my nerves anyway.

There is no channel to download for this - its just another section of the Wii Store..

Looks like a good thing to me really, offers another delivery route for developers, and as long as they keep to sensible pricing (current games are at 800-1500 points) it should be good for us too.

Shame theres nothing that really appeals at the moment, but then there wasnt much on VC at first really..I have high hopes :)
but do you agree with paying for something that would allow you to buy things. For example if they charged for steam people would go crazy
of course that would be stupid - but I don't know of any such services at the moment :)
