Watch movies and listen to music on your Wii

If you thought that the Wii’s functionality only extended to browsing the net and viewing a few pictures through your SD memory card, you’d be wrong.

Though we can’t guarantee that it will work or the quality of the music and video streams, Lifehacker.com has a detailed guide on how to turn your Wii into a working media centre, and all you need to do is download the freeware Windows application Orb through Wii’s Opera browser.

Lifehackers claims that you’ll be able to play your entire music library and even watch TV you've recorded with Windows Media Center!

Check out this You Tube video which shows the Orb application in action:

A word of warning though, I’ve been scanning through the comments made by people who have tried using this method and in the words of one user, “it kinda sucked.”

If you do give it a blast, be sure to let us know in the forums.

I tried Orb and Wii ages ago, it was ok the only thing i didnt like / couldnt fathom was that to stream stuff it send the file i was streaming out to the internet and then back in to the Wii making it slow and video streams shocking quality.

I gave up and hope to find a solution that will recognise that PC and Wii are on a LAN and use this connection rather than shipping it out and back in.

Some potential tho.
