Let's hope they sort it out in time for the UK launch

It seems that Electronic Arts' Rock Band has become a smash hit over in the US with pretty much every copy selling over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Chief Executive of EA, John Riccitiello, said "Hundreds of thousands sold through over the Thanksgiving weekend. Literally every box we made,"

So I guess that means the gloves are off and EA are cranking the dials to 11 in their challenge to topple Activisions Guitar Hero 3, with $USD117 million sales in the first week, from the Number One rock slot.

But the success of Rock Band hasn't been a smooth one with problems with the guitars plaguing would-be rockers... so much so that EA has been pretty much swamped with replacement requests, cuasing delays in getting new guitars to their customers.

However, EA has taken steps to pacify potentially miffed customers by offering them, a free game by way of an apology for the wait, as this email from EA shows:

Greetings Rocker,

Congratulations on your purchase of Rock Band!

After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.

By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.

We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.

Thank you, The Rock Band Team

So really it's just a case of hurry up and wait for us UK and European rockers to get our mitts on Rock Band, by which time they'll have hopefully worked out the guitar kinks...
