LAN gaming and finally...

LAN gaming and finally...

Digital Jesters were on hand to provide LAN gaming in the form of Desert Rats Vs Afrika Corps. I swiped a free demo disc of Freedom Force Vs The Third Reich and Trackmania Sunrise. Trackmania in particular has had me grinning like a loon at the insane aerial manoeuvres you have to pull off just to make it round the track let alone clock a decent lap time.

Unluckily the gremlins got to my camera for part of the show otherwise you could slam your eyeballs against the fine array of replica swords on display, the firepower on offer at the lazertag stand and the giant Star Trek game played on a 30ftx20ft board. Later on some percussion maintenance rectified the problem.

The scope and variety of the games present was incredible from Napoleonic battles to flying sailing ships to majestic fleets of Minbari duelling with the Shadows either rendered in small metal or plastic form right up to ships 2 foot long evading football sized nebula resembling candyfloss in the giant Star Trek game, f course this only scratches the surface of what was on offer.

I can only hope that Salute continues to expand becoming bigger and better than ever and that I become rich enough to buy everything I see. I’ll definitely be back to see how Salute 06 settles in it’s new home at ExCel and hopefully I’ll have a more fully functioning camera as well.

Great review, and cheers for the piccies Eagleshard (i'm guessing you're responsible).
I even got a mention (!).

Speaking of dice, some said they bought a transparent d6 with a little d6 INSIDE, so you can roll to hit and wound at the same time! Cool or what?
Without a computer!!!?!??!! No, surely not!

I'm responsible for the article, so any questions, you know who to ask.

I saw those and they're on my list for next time, there was even a d10 one inside the other for rolling D100

The standard of miniatures was really high for the entire show but i'm glad i took an extra moment to check out the NewBold world stand, they were particulary fine. thanks for bringing them to my attention.

thanks for the kind words :iloveyou:
Nice article mate, looking forward to some more non PC games stuff soon!
Do we have any other avid roleplayers or wargames fans out there?
