If you've been enticed by Philips' stunning 2009 Aurea LCD TV, you're probably going to want to pair it with a decent home theatre solution. And, if you're been lured by the display's gorgeous aesthetics, you're probably going to want an audio solution that's sleek, clutter free, and equally easy on the eye.
Fortunately, Philips has you covered with its latest all-in-one home theatre Soundbar.
The device, pictured above, is available in black or white finishes (model numbers HTS8160B and HTS8161B, respectively), and using Philips' Ambisound technology, it claims to create a virtual 5.1 experience without the need for multiple speakers.
We doubt it'll ever be as good as an actual 5.1 solution, but it'll certainly cut down on clutter and Philips' blurb is pretty convincing: "through the combined effect of psychoacoustic phenomena, array processing and precisely angled driver positioning, Ambisound delivers more sound from fewer speakers."
Speaking of speakers, the Soundbar makes use of six built-in 51mm full-range drivers and an external 6.5in long-throw subwoofer.
What's useful is that the all-in-one solution sports a Blu-ray drive, complete with support for BD-Live, so it'll playback all your high-def movies in 1080p as well as upscale your standard-def DVDs. It'll even playback DivX Ultra, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, avi, MKV, MPEG4, WMV and XviD video formats, as well as photo slideshows.
Perhaps the best reason to get one, though, is that it looks the part alongside that dazzling screen.
