PRESS RELEASE

  • Tech fans came out in force to queue outside O2’s Oxford Street store to be the first in the country to buy the OnePlus 3T
  • OnePlus 3T coming exclusively to O2 on 28 November on renowned Refresh tariff

Eager tech fans flocked to the O2 store on Oxford Street today to be in with the chance of getting their hands on the OnePlus 3T, four days early.

In anticipation of the O2-exclusive event, OnePlus fans began queuing over three hours in advance of the doors opening at 3.02pm with the lucky first-person rewarded with a completely free phone.

Those who braved the December weather to queue outside now have four days to enjoy exclusive access to the phone, before it goes on sale in O2 stores nationwide and online on Monday 28 November.

OnePlus has steadily built its loyal fan base since starting in 2013 with the simple idea: make a better phone, and a better way of doing things. Following this year’s release of the OnePlus 3 – also available exclusively with O2 - The OnePlus 3T ups the bar even further than before, packing in a Snapdragon 821 processor, more storage than ever and a new 16MP front camera.

Available in an O2 store or at www.o2.co.uk/oneplus3t on the network’s renowned Refresh tariff, the OnePlus 3T is available in 64GB and 128GB memory variants on tariffs offering from 500MB to 20GB data. Tariffs for the 64GB version include £31 per month for 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data, and £42 per month for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 5GB of data. Both tariffs come with a £9.99 upfront payment. The 64GB version will also be available for a one-off payment of £417.99.

Tariffs for the 128GB version include £33 per month for 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data, and £44 per month for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 5GB of data. Both tariffs come with no upfront payment. The 128GB version will also be available for a one off payment of £456.

Magnus McDonald, Head of Devices at O2 said “The turnout today has been fantastic. To see queues of this length really highlights the passionate fan base here and we’re thrilled to host this exclusive event for them. Demand for the OnePlus 3 has exceeded all our expectations and we’re excited to see how successful our partnership with OnePlus can be.”

Alexandru Girbo, who was first in line to receive the phone said: “I can’t believe that I’m the first person in the country to get my hands on the OnePlus 3T – and to be given it for free! It’s fantastic that O2 have given us fans the chance to get the phone early, I even travelled from Oxford to be here and it was well worth the trip - I can’t wait to try it out.”
