Virgin Media today announced the addition of The Africa Channel to its extensive line-up of TV channels, with the deal also including distribution rights for content across Virgin Media's pioneering TV On Demand service. 

Featuring a diverse range of programmes inspired by Africa, this channel brings to life everything from live news and current affairs to award-winning films, documentaries, stunning wildlife programmes, soaps and comedies, many of which will be showing for the first time in the UK.

The channel will be available at no extra cost to all M+ TV customers and above with up to 20 hours of TV on demand content ready to watch whenever customers want every month. With such a variety of shows on offer there really is something for everyone, with flagship shows including:

Jacob's Cross: An award-winning, Dallas-esque drama featuring charismatic businessman Jacob Makhubu as he attempts to build the next great African oil empire

Face of Africa: Follow the search for Africa's next catwalk queen

Endangered:  The UK's favourite wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan journeys around Southern Africa to track down some incredibly rare animals, from the elusive riverine rabbit to the rowdy but vulnerable leopard toad.

Cuba, An African Odyssey: A ground-breaking documentary that sheds light on the close relationship between Cuba and several African States during the Cold War

The Africa Channel is available on Virgin Media from today on channel 828 within the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).
