PRESS RELEASE

London, 14 November 2018 – Netatmo, the leader in smart objects for a safer and more comfortable home, announces the compatibility of its Smart Indoor Camera (Welcome) with Apple HomeKit. This update will be progressively available to all Netatmo’s Smart Indoor Cameras from today.

With this automatic firmware update, users are now able to control smart home devices and make them work together through voice commands, directly via the voice assistant Siri. This applies to all Netatmo’s Smart Indoor Cameras, including the ones already purchased.

Providing our users with products that are reliable, perform well, and are durable is our priority. With regular software updates, we ensure they offer the best services to our existing and new users. All of our Smart Indoor Cameras, including the ones already purchased, will benefit from the HomeKit transition” explains Fred Potter, Founder and CEO of Netatmo.

With facial recognition technology, the Smart Indoor Camera can learn faces and refer to them by name. It warns users on their smartphone when an intruder or a stranger is detected at home, by sending a picture of the unknown face along with a video.

HomeKit, for a more customised experience of the smart home

“Hey Siri, show me the living room”

With the HomeKit update, users have access to the live stream from the Smart Indoor Camera, through voice command. They can ask Siri to show them the living room, or any other room where the camera has been installed, to know what is happening at home in real time.

Hey Siri, turn on the light

Apple HomeKit offers even more comfort and ease of use, to intuitively interact with the smart objects of their home.

They are now able to create customised scenarios to connect their Smart Indoor Camera to other smart devices in the home.

Thanks to the camera’s sensors, users can create a scenario where the lights turn on when the camera detects a person, and turn them off when somebody leaves the room.

Price and availability

The Smart Indoor Camera sells at the recommended retail price of £199.99 on www.netatmo.com  and at major retailers such as John Lewis, Maplin, Argos, Shopdirect, Dixons retails, Smartech and Amazon.uk
