Status savvy

O2 has launched a live network status tool and online coverage checker.

The tools are designed to allow customers or prospective customers to see the strength and status of the O2 network in their area.

The coverage checker allows people to check the network coverage in any area of the UK, while a coverage map shows O2 network coverage based on computer predictions of the outdoor and indoor signal reception.

"A Live Status Checker lets customers enter the postcode where they are and check for planned maintenance and the current status of the network in their area," O2 said.

The site also includes a ‘beginners' guide to mobile networks including an explanation of technical terms.

"We believe it's essential to provide transparency to both existing and potential customers so that they are able to make informed choices around our products and services,"
said Gavin Sheldon, head of networks at O2.

"We think providing accurate, detailed information is much more useful to our customers than providing abstract percentages which may not mean much in terms of actual network experience," he added.

Well… It's absolute balls. My signal is utter rubbish and.. oh look, they say it's good. :censored:
For me says I have good phone signal and rubbish mobile internet, which is pretty spot on.
I'd agree, wrong for me…excellent coverage promised and rubbish actual…still I'm sure it's a good approximation…maybe I shouldn't live in a Faraday Cage :-)
Atleast they made an effort :P.
