No means no!

Despite ongoing rumours of a Via Technologies buyout, NVIDIA CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, today told CNet that the company has no interest in such a purchase.

"They don't need our money. I don't need theirs. They're doing fine. People want to create drama," said Huang, making it as clear as could be.

With both Intel and AMD looking to offer integrated graphics solutions in the near future, the general opinion from most is that NVIDIA needs to find a way into the CPU business in order to remain competitive in the long run.

That opinion, however, isn't shared by Huang, who said:

"Our shtick is that we just focus on one thing. We said we're a visual computing technology company and we're completely focused on this."

"Wherever their (VIA) processor capabilities intersect with our visual computing focus, we will support them. We support ARM, we support Power PC in the game console world, we support Hitachi SH in the automobile industry, we support Via in low-end PCs," he added.

A lot has been made of forthcoming threats to NVIDIA's business, particularly the likes of Intel's discrete graphics processing unit, Larrabee. But, with Larrabee still a while away, performance is completely unknown, and it should be noted that Intel isn't the only horse looking at raytracing.

There's no denying that NVIDIA finds itself in an uncomfortable spot, surrounded with CPU and GPU wielding giants in the form of AMD and Intel, but don't rule NVIDIA out just yet.
