Is there the demand?

While it's good to see these boards starting to arrive in the channel, it remains to be seen how much initial demand there will be for AMD boards while DDR3 memory is still more expensive than DDR2.

As AMD desktop product manager Kevin Lensing conceded in an earlier interview with HEXUS.channel, we shouldn't expect DDR3 to be price competitive enough to provide a viable alternative to DDR2 for the majority of consumers until later in the year.

That, combined with the current lack of a top-of-the-range AMD CPU could well mean that AMD itself is in no great hurry for AMD boards to hit the shelves as soon as possible.

Socket AM3 boards a currently pretty thin on the ground in the UK. Scan has a couple of Gigabyte ones, but most other etailers have yet to start stocking any

Not for a while IMHO especially with the DDR3 cost and the bad support for faster 1333 speed ram I cant see that the uptake will be very great. Makes me glad I didnt wait for it as I would have been very dissapointed if I had.
