Setup and Configuration Information
The advent of the modern operating system has made it difficult for vendors like SCAN to get their hands dirty and tweak the OS for more performance. So while the majority will leave that side of things alone these days, there's still the basics to get right. What filesystem is right for the disks? How are the disks partitioned? What software is preloaded? How's user security going to be handled? All valid things to think about and apply to a customer system.
SCAN supply Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2 of course) setup with one default user account with Administrator privileges, sadly, although that's about the only bad thing about the (admittedly simple) installation and software setup. Installed software ran to Ahead's Nero suite and an ASUS utility for monitoring the mainboard with SCAN preinstalling the other software you specify when you order.
Both storage volumes are NTFS as expected (by far the better possible filesystem) and SCAN don't appear to make any obvious mistakes in the OS setup.
